Job Description
Our company specializes in producing hydroponically grown cut tulips and is located in Dunnville, ON. We are seeking an individual who will report to the greenhouse manager. The ideal candidate will offer support with growing and will possess strong mechanical knowledge, with the ability to perform a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of greenhouse equipment.
Horticulture/greenhouse experience would be an asset to the job, but we can train on all aspects of growing if you have the desire and eagerness to learn in this industry.
Job Responsibilities
- Learn through on the job training all functions and responsibilities within the greenhouse
- Maintain and fix greenhouse equipment, including greenhouse structures, forklifts, tractors, machines for bunching, planting and washing, and other equipment
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems using tools for repairs and adjustments
- Monitor and maintain the greenhouse environment, ensuring a quality product through climate, irrigation, fertilizer, heating and other various controls in the greenhouse
- Operate basic farm machinery, such as tractors and forklifts, safely and efficiently
- Load and unload trucks with forklift.
Job Requirements
- Horticulture or greenhouse industry experience and/or education is an asset
- Possess a valid class G driver's license
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to problem solve technical issues
- Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training
- Ability to operate various types of equipment and solve mechanical issues
- Ability to work extended hours as required by the season and be willing to work where help is needed
- Ability to work independently without supervision and confidence in making educated decisions.
Wage
Salary starting at $65,000
